The Deep C Meter is the premier ROV cathodic-protection survey system for use in deep water.
The Polatrak Deep-C-Meter is designed for rugged service on a work-class ROV. With a 316 SS pressure housing and a fully-articulating mount, this system can go to work out-of-the-box on cathodic protection survey projects down to 3,000 meters (10,000 feet). The Deep C Meter is self-contained, which means that there is no interface with the ROV umbilical. Just point a camera at the readout, grab the probe in the manipulator and start to record accurate CP data from the LED readout. The Deep C Meter kit includes the ROV II Probe, an articulated mount and all standard replacement parts.
Rated for operation to a depth of 10,000 feet (3000 m), this is the most widely used system of its kind worldwide. The probe unit is held in the tee-handle manipulator mount, and the instrument readout unit can be conveniently mounted anywhere on the ROV.
Since no interface to the ROV umbilical system is required, the Deep C Meter system can be installed quickly and easily on the ROV anywhere in view of the camera.
Human error is minimized since all data are recorded on the video display, eliminating the need to record data in the field via traditional means. Onshore personnel can interpret the data from the video after the survey is complete. And like all Polatrak CP probes, the ROV II has twin silver-chloride electrodes for online calibration and redundancy.
The unit runs on 9V alkaline batteries triggered by a photo-cell, a feature that allows the batteries to last an entire dive season without maintenance.
All parts for the Deep C Meter readout and the ROV II probe are serviceable and each unit comes with a comprehensive package of spares. Additional spare parts are available from Deepwater.
The Deep C Meter is available in two versions: the 3,000-meter-rated version (Deep C Meter 3000), and the lighter-duty, 300-meter-rated version for inspection class ROVs (Deep C Meter 300). The Deep C Meter 300 standard system uses Delrin for the T-handle mount, articulated readout mount and readout housing; these are stainless steel in the 3,000-meter-rated version.

The Deep-C-Meter kit includes the ROV II tip-contact probe. This probe interfaces directly with the readout, which requires no connection to the umbilical.
The readout is protected by a stainless-steel housing for depths of up to 3,000 meters. Replacement components are sold individually and repair services are available.
The standard Deep C Meter kit comes with all components housed in a durable, watertight, custom offshore pelican case. The case has wheels and a pullout handle.
Lens removal requires a new set of O-rings to be fitted to the grooves when reassembling the CP Gun probe. The standard kit includes several replacement O-rings.
Two tubes of O-ring lube come standard in the Deep C Meter kit (300 and 3000); replacement tubes are available individually.
The Deep C Meter kit also comes with four replacement lens screws which are vital for re-attaching the lens to the main body of the probe during maintenance.
A whip extender is also available for the ROV II probe that can extend the whip up to twelve feet. It's not included in the standard kit.
The readout is mounted to an articulating platform that can be secured to any convenient area on the ROV frame to accommodate other instrumentation on board.
The T-Handle mount for the ROV II has a shock absorber to protect the probe during surveys. The T-handle can be swapped for a fishtail-style handle.
The Deep C Meter 300 kit is identical to the 3000 kit, with these exceptions.
The readout is housed in Delrin rather than stainless steel. Much lighter in weight, Delrin is strong enough for 300-meter depths.
The T-handle probe mount and articulated readout mount are of a completely different design and made of Delrin, so that inspection-class ROVs can handle their weight.
