The Deep C Meter is the premier ROV cathodic protection survey system for use in deep water.
The Polatrak Deep-C-Meter is designed for rugged service on a work-class ROV. With 316 SS pressure housing and a fully articulating mount, this system can go to work out-of-the-box on cathodic protection survey projects down to 3000 m (10,000 feet). The Deep C Meter is self-contained, which means that there is no interface with the ROV umbilical. Just point a camera at the readout, grab the probe in the manipulator, and start to record accurate CP data from the LED readout. The Deep C Meter kit includes the ROV II Probe, articulated mount and all standard replacement parts.
Rated for operation in up to 10,000 feet (3000 m) depth, this is the most widely used system of its kind worldwide. The instrument readout unit can be conveniently mounted anywhere on the ROV while the probe unit is held in the tee-handle manipulator mount.
Since no interface to the ROV umbilical system is required, the Deep C Meter system can be installed quickly and easily on the ROV anywhere in view of the camera.
As all data are recorded on the video display, there is no need to record the data in the field via traditional means, which subsequently eliminates human error. Someone onshore can interpret the data from the tape, after the survey is complete. And like all Polatrak CP probes, the ROV II probe used has twin silver chloride electrodes, for online calibration and redundancy.
The unit runs on 9V alkaline batteries triggered by a photo-cell, allowing the batteries to last an entire dive season with continuous operation.
All parts for both the Deep C Meter readout, as well as the ROV II probe are serviceable and each unit comes with a comprehensive spares package. Additional spare parts are also available from Deepwater.
The Deep C Meter is available in two distinct versions: the 3000 m rated version (Deep C Meter 3000), and the lighter-duty 300m rated version for inspection class ROV's (Deep C Meter 300). The Deep C Meter 300 standard system uses Delrin for a number of the analagous stainless steel components in the 3000 m rated version. Namely the T-handle mount, articulated readout mount, and readout housing.

The Deep-C-Meter kit includes the ROV II tip-contact probe. This probe interfaces directly with the readout, which requires no connection to the umbilical.
The readout protected by a stainless steel housing, rated for depths of up to 3000 m. Replacement components are sold individually, and repair services are available.
The standard Deep C Meter kit comes with all components housed in a durable, water-tight custom offshore pelican case. The case has wheels and a pull-out handle.
The ROV II probe operates with dual Ag / AgCl reference electrodes, which plug directly into the guts of the probe. Additional electrode elements are available individually..
Two tubes of O-ring lube come standard in the Deep C Meter kit (300 and 3000); replacement tubes are available individually.
The ROV II nose cone assembly comprises the nose cone, a contact tip, and the connector. Replacement tip(s) and cone(s) are available separately.
A whip extender is also available for the ROV II probe (not included in the standard kit), which can make extend the whip up to twelve (12) ft.
The readout itself is mounted to an articulating platform, which can be secured to any convenient area on the ROV frame, to accommodate other instrumentation on board.
The T-Handle mount for the ROV II has a shock absorber to protect the probe during survey. The T-handle can be swapped for a fish-tail style handle.
The Deep C Meter 300 kit is identical to the 3000 kit with a few exceptions.
The readout is housed in Delrin, rather than stainless steel. Much lighter in weight, Delrin is strong enough for 300 m depths.
The probe T-handle mount and articulated readout mount are of a completely different design, also made of Delrin, so that inspection-class ROV's can handle the weight.
