Cathodic Protection for Large Structures

Deepwater provides corrosion prevention for new structures and anode replacement (retrofit) for aging brown field assets. Having rewritten the "CP retrofit textbook" with our ground-breaking cathodic protection systems, Deepwater can retrofit a structure's CP system more quickly and more efficiently, reducing the cost to the operator by up to 40% over traditional sacrificial systems. Anode replacement can be handled with efficiency on any type of platform. At times like these, when the price of oil is soaring, asset integrity becomes a major concern. Our anti-corrosion specialists have provided, supplemented, or replaced the cathodic protection on every type of brown or green-field asset in operation.

Structures with power

Our RetroBuoy™ system cuts retrofit costs by delivering more cathodic protection, more efficiently. In fact, one typical RetroBuoy sled can deliver up to 400 Amps of corrosion protection – enough to protect 80,000 square feet of steel. The conventional alternative protection would need 32 tons (US) of sacrificial aluminium. The impressed current RetroBuoy is versatle; it has been applied to platforms, FPSO's, and dock / jetty structures.

Structures without power

For structures without their own power source, the RetroPod™ system provides sacrificial aluminum anodes arranged in stable, self-contained 'pods'. These pods are available in ten or twenty year longevity designs. It takes typically less than one hour to install each pod, roughly half the time used by conventional methods. One pod can typically protect 3000 square feet of bare steel. The RetroClamp tie-back system is designed to aid in the installation of Deepwater's systems, providing a quick and stable electrical connection to any tubular or flange.

Short-term Retrofits

For a less than five years need, our Retrolink system delivers economic and effective protection. Diverless topside installation is available for structures in 85 feet of seawater or less.. read more
