Way Ahead In Corrosion Control

Polatrak appears at Underwater Intervention 2013

Just as New Orleans was bracing itself to host the 2013 Superbowl and start cranking up Mardi Gras, Underwater Intervention 2013 landed in the Morial Convention Center on January 15–17.  Divers, engineers, project managers and virtually any sort of business connected to commercial diving and remotely operated vehicles could be found converging on a soggy, chilly Big Easy.

The show’s website boasted 2,400 attendees for last year’s show – hailing from 42 U.S. states and 31 countries worldwide – all to gawk at 164 companies’ wares. We’d assume this year’s show’s numbers are comparable. Did we mention this was the show’s 20th anniversary?

As you might have guessed by now, Deepwater was there in force with its line of Polatrak cathodic-protection probes. We brought along our spanking-new RUSS software to demonstrate how Polatrak probes can deliver real-time digital cathodic –protection survey results which update the database each time the diver or ROV takes a reading.

Of course, we hauled along our tried-and-true workhorses: the versatile ROV-II (the world’s best-selling probe of its type), the CP-Gun (the most user-friendly diver-held probe available) and the DC-II (the most widely-used drop-cell-style probe in the world). We’re pretty sure those alone would’ve been worth the price of admission.

Next year’s show will be about a month later, commencing on February 11. It’s both a good exposition and a wonderful excuse for a pre-Mardi Gras visit to New Orleans. As if you really needed an excuse.
