The existing cathodic protection system on this dock / bulkhead was an impressed-current system constantly under repair. The maintenance costs were constantly exceeding $250,000 per year. The challenges of ice and high flow/tide conditions as well as brackish water made most designs inadequate. More info
In 2004, Deepwater Corrosion Services, Inc. was commissioned to develop a pile anode strong and reliable enough to survive the deep freezes of Alaska's Cook Inlet. The result was the Raparound pile anode. The Raparound is the only cathodic-protection solution on the market for such harsh conditions. More info
