Cathodic protection
For tanks and process vessels

Deepwater's TankGard system can reliably protect tank and vessel interiors for up to 10 years.

Deepwater has pioneered the TankGard impressed current cathodic protection system for internal tank corrosion. Since the mid-1980s, TankGard systems have been addressing the inherent corrosion issues of harsh-environment, upstream-process tanks and vessels, making internal corrosion prevention for tanks much easier to implement and monitor. In the San Joaquin Valley oilfields of California, where produced water is hot and sour with a high tendency for scaling and sludging, Deepwater's TankGard system worked where others didn’t, providing up to ten years of reliable corrosion protection for the tanks' interiors.

For traditional methods of protecting interior tank bottoms, Deepwater can provide aluminum and zinc sacrificial anodes in a variety of shapes and sizes.

For unprotected tanks requiring retrofit, TankGard is a long-term solution that allows any personnel in the field to check whether a tank is protected without interrupting service or entering the tank. It’s an automatic and potentially-controlled system, which adjusts protection levels to maximize the use of the anodes and extend the life of the system. TankGard is comprised of the following components and can be installed on new or existing tanks:

• Anodes made of high-silicon cast iron with a chromium addition (Sifter)
• FlangeMate type 6 in. schedule 150 anode mounts
• AC 120 Volt 60 Hz 1 phase transformer rectifier
Polatrak HP-1Z and RT-1Z reference electrodes

TankGard system components can be purchased individually. Deepwater field services technicians and NACE-certified corrosion experts are also available to assist with any installation requirements.

TankGard™ system

impressed current cathodic protection for tanks

Reliable, long-term protection The TankGard system provides impressed-current cathodic protection for produced water tanks, separators, heater treaters, surge tanks, flotation cells, and Chemelec vessels. Systems can be designed to last up to 10 years.

HP-1Z™ reference electrode

HP-1z reference electrode

Self-monitoring performance
The Polatrak HP-1Z is a permanent reference electrode designed to allow positive monitoring and or control of internal cathodic protection systems for tanks by providing the electrode element on an extension wire inside the vessel.

RT-1Z™ Reference electrode

RT-1Z reference electrode

Reliable reference data
The RT-1Z facilitates simple, on-line internal-vessel cathodic protection monitoring. The instrument may be left in place if on-line monitoring is required, in which case a condulet adapter is available. The RT-1Z can also be placed through a ball valve.
